Skilled mason, Gaetano Pinelli, pictured center right with his sons and brother, was universally regarded as the best Bocce player in southern Colorado. After losing his brother in the Ludlow Massacre in 1914, Gaetano never played bocce again. He settled in Purgatory Springs and later turned to bootlegging to supplement his failing bricklaying business, before running afoul with the Danna Mob.
